I love being immersed in the mystical world of flowers. When I was only 9 years old, I defended the ‘right to live’ for the pansies, seeing them as destined to death if they did not sell. If a customer would take them home, they would have a good life.
Even as I saw those pansies as having feelings, I believe plants and humans have a bond. When we care for plants, they thrive and we thrive. Due to the abstract design of this 3D creation begs one has to ask where the stems end and the roots begin. When we gaze through the layers we could ask, don’t flowers deserve to live in random interactive environments, where each blossom exists in solitude and community simultaneously.
The multiple layers of glass and/or high definition acrylic are individually painted and textured with numerous techniques to enable the artist to draw the viewer into the scene. The 3D characteristics of this piece of art set it apart – above and beyond what can be done with with a work of art on a single canvas, the multiple layers cast shadows that shift as the lighting in your room changes, or as you move to a different position to look at the art from another angle.
