The 3D Result: Watch the Video

This video is a close up of the third artwork shown below. Notice there are only 3 birds and 4 pickets and one post in the fence in the artwork. The 3D features create shadows which look like more grey birds behind the birds. The fence seems to have many more pickets. These are shadows and they move and transform as your lighting or angle of viewing changes.

The layers of glass and/or high definition acrylic on this example provides depth and shadows bringing it to life. In the image of the tree with the birds on the picket fence (Titled: Fresh Air), the house is created using traditional painting techniques. The tree is in nearer than the house, however, the picket fence and birds are on a completely different plane. They are on an additional layer of transparent material.

The 3 dimensions in the art, connects the viewer with the vision of the artist.  Experiencing art in this way is transformative.  I have also challenged myself to create abstract in 3D which adds intrigue.  As an artist I enjoy challenging myself to do things that don’t come natural to me – from time-to-time as it stretches my skills.

This results in natural shadows. As the lighting, or where you are standing changes, so do the shadows created by the birds and the fence. This is like real life. For this reason my 3D art brings perspective to life. We see in 3 dimensions. Viewing art that is in 3 dimensions is much more experiential than viewing 2D art.  See more 3D art.

Creating art in 3 Dimensions helps portray the vision of the artist into a piece of art that is more experiential. It provides depth, depth or dimension is a part of how we really see. Therefore when the third dimension is added to a piece of art, it becomes something that draws the viewer into the art. Seeing the art from different angle creates shadows from other angles. My 3D Studio, is my favorite place to play with color, hue, context, artistic representation of my vision.

Taking a look a piece of my 3 dimensional art provides one with an experience which is different than looking at art which is 2 dimensional.  A number of years ago, I joined a photography club and very quickly lost interest because it only made me more aware who photos lack the dimension we view when we see the world around us.  For this reason I have never been drawn to photography as an art form, even though I recognize the immense skill it takes to become a great photographer.

As an artist, my Dimensions Gallery shows how my joy comes from trying to recapture the feeling of being there – rather than just viewing a photo of the location. That said, as my experience as an artist grows, I have really enjoyed producing art which is minimalist, surreal, illusion, or abstract. It becomes a new challenge to marry these concepts and three dimensions in art.

Utilizing the various surfaces in the art, provides me with an opportunity to see the art evolve as I create it, pushing the things in the background, further into the distance and adding each subsequent layer as one step closer to the viewer. Sometimes I combine natural and found items into the layers to add another dimension. For instance, using tiny pebbles as rocks in a scene brings a life like feature to the dimensions in the art.

Changing the angle of the light that shines on the 3D art provides another opportunity to connect with the image. The shadows created in the art, are cast by the way the light falls on the layers of painting. As you slowly walk past the piece of art, the angle of the shadows change. Isn’t that what happens in real life?

What makes my 3 Dimensions Art Gallery artwork different is connecting with the art, allows the viewer to fell captivated by the art in a way that is palpable, evoking more emotion and a greater connection with the piece of art. As an artist, I believe people want to feel connected to the art they hang in their home.  It creates the ambiance we call home.  Art is subjective and it is usually enjoyed on a very personal level. Creating more dimension in the art, allows me as an artist to connect in a way that cannot be done with 2 dimensional art.

Unfortunately the ability to visualize the 3 dimensions art gallery as you would if you could see it in person, rather than on a computer screen, is akin to wanting smell-o-vision.

Unfortunately one of the drawbacks of an online gallery is that it isn’t easy to portray the effects created and shown in my virtual 3 dimensions art gallery, because the internet and photos take the art back to something that is only 2 dimensions. However, one of the upsides is that when people receive their art and see the difference the 3 dimensions make they are very pleased.
