Kristi Nielsen Artist - All About Me!

I credit my grade 3 teacher, Mrs. Larson for igniting my passion for art. I had the privilege of reconnecting with her 5 years ago – 60 years after she was my teacher. She was only 19 when she was my teacher, so we are only 10 years apart in age. We stay in contact.  She entered the best art in the local fair and winning pieces went on to the Edmonton Exhibition.

I won one First Prize in the Edmonton Exhibition that year, at age 9. Subsequent years I entered as many categories as I could and took numerous first, second, and third prizes every year until I was finished High School. I also, entered and won a competition to design a crest for the local fire department at age 12. It was used for 50 years.

I have pursued many interests in my lifetime. I went to university in my 40s and earned a degree in adult education. I have owned numerous businesses which allowed me to celebrate my artistic abilities – such as a flower shop. I have written adult books, as well as written and illustrated 20 children’s books.

I stepped away from art for a few years to pursue other activities and made a decision this summer to seriously pursue art, like never before. I am looking forward to exploring new heights in my artistic expression and hope you will enjoy hanging my art in your home or office – or gifting it to friends and family. I enjoy using various mediums in my art, from watercolor, to acrylic, to mixed media. I am particularly interested in creating 3D art. Every piece of 3D art is original which makes it fun.

I am a people person and enjoy meeting people.
