Inspired by my love for water. I have lived near the ocean for nearly half of my adult life. I live even closer to a very small lake, where one can see people sitting on the dock fishing.
Being by the water always makes me feel grounded. I feel like water has a personality — I don’t see it as a passive part of nature. One of my father’s favorite past times was to go fishing. Although I couldn’t understand why anyone would want to sit by a hole in the ice in the middle of winter – he also loved to go ice fishing.
Gone Fishing is 3 Dimensional on every level. The house, the fisherman’s boat and other items are 3D. Embellished with natural findings, this piece connects the viewer with nature in a palpable way – evoking emotion and a sense of calm.
The multiple layers of glass and/or high definition acrylic are individually painted and textured with numerous techniques to enable the artist to draw the viewer into the scene. The 3D characteristics of this piece of art set it apart – above and beyond what can be done with with a work of art on a single canvas, the multiple layers cast shadows that shift as the lighting in your room changes, or as you move to a different position to look at the art from another angle.
