Siwash Rock – Stanley Park – Vancouver: Watercolor on archival paper in calming cheery colors and hues.
This Watercolor is in honor of Siwash Rock and the Indigenous People’s connection to the land beneath the Lions Gate Bridge. I have cruised the seawall around Stanley Park many times and it is one of my favorite things to do on a summer day. This unique walk stands tall coming out of the water in a way that is hard to miss.
For cyclists and walkers alike this becomes a pivotal milestone let them orient where they are in their journey around the seawall. Take this painting home and visualize yourself on the seawall in Vancouver.
Slhx̱i7lsh, or Lhilhx̱í7elsh, known as Siwash Rock refers to the story of a man transformed by X̱ays. The hole in the rock is where Slhx̱i7lsh kept his fishing tackle.
