Since an early age, I have been fascinated by the symbolism of the owl. Hearing an owl crying out “who, who, who” in the middle of a star-lit night, makes me feel someone is watching out for me. Perhaps it is the owl’s ability to rotate their head 270 degrees that gives it the symbolism of watching. Unlike other birds, owls have very noticeable ears. While it seems like such a serene bird, watching over everything at night, it is a predator. Living mainly on fish, it is forever watchful and a symbol of a peaceful night.
Night Owl is 3 Dimensional on every level. It connects the viewer with nature in a palpable way – evoking emotion and a sense of calm. The multiple layers of glass and/or high definition acrylic are individually painted and textured with numerous techniques to enable the artist to draw the viewer into the scene.
