The stately heron is a bird that garners wonder. It seems so ominous, but also seems so non-intrusive. Although I have seen many Heron’s I don’t know the sound of their cry. So, it seems they are a fairly quiet bird by comparison of some much smaller birds like crows which are always heard as often as they are seen.
This Heron is sitting perched on an old log on the edge of a river, in shallow water. It is seemingly the type of place one often sees a Heron.
