Format: Vertical
Image: 9 x 12 inches  (23 x 30.5)
Framed Dimensions: 12 x 16 inches (31 x 41 cm)

Take a walk along the Stanley Park Seawall and you will see Siwash Rock. Indigenous legends attributed to Pauline Johnson have significance to the First Nations People.

Siwash Rock is a 32 million-year-old sea stack (rock outcropping). You will find it as you walk north along the seawall.  Located just off the seawall between Third Beach and Lions Gate Bridge in Stanley Park it is striking and memorable.

According to Squamish First Nations legend, a man was transformed into Siwash Rock “as an indestructible monument to Clean Fatherhood” – a reward for unselfishness.  Siwash is considered derogatory to First Nations People. It is likely to be renamed as reconciliation continues.

A lookout above Siwash Rock is accessible from Park Drive or Siwash Rock Trail leading from Prospect Point and Third Beach.
